英文摘要：
  The period from 1987 to 2008 saw a substantial decrease in the suicide rate in China. This paper employs relevant national data to describe China’s total suicide rate and its gender and urbanrural distribution and proves that the yearly decrease is significant. It also conducts a relevance and time series analysis of the suicide rate and economic development and the migrant population. A significant negative correlation can be found between the suicide rate and economic development and the increase in the migrant population. With this as a theoretical hypothesis, this paper uses the change in the context of strain to explain the relationship between the suicide rate and economic development in China. It shows that the decrease in the suicide rate is largely attributable to the weakened conflict context.
